How it works
Collect, verify, version, distribute
SignGuard processes data centrally. Products only pull verified, versioned releases; no product makes decisions on raw data.
Process
- 01
Collection
Domain, URL and threat data is gathered centrally from many sources. Miscategorisation reports coming from the products join the same pool.
- 02
Analysis and verification
Records are scored by automatic classification. Records below the threshold, or in conflict, drop into an analyst queue and are verified by hand.
- 03
Versioning
Verified changes are packaged under a version number. Every release records what it changed; distribution always happens through a complete release.
- 04
Distribution
Products pull the new release periodically, check its integrity and put it into service. The data version and time are shown on the update screen.
Inside the product
What you see on the update screen
SignGuard's only visible face inside a product is the update screen. It shows the data version in use, the time of the last update and the next check. The badge also lives on this screen.
- Data version
- The number of the SignGuard release the product is currently using.
- Last update
- When the release was downloaded and put into service.
- Integrity
- The verification result of the downloaded package.
Frequently asked
Short answers
- Is SignGuard a separate product?
- No. SignGuard is the service layer that feeds the five Sysnet products; it is not installed or used on its own.
- Which products use SignGuard?
- SignLogger, SignBackup, SignDLP, SignWall and SignPassword. Each product receives the data set it needs; the scope is defined in the product documentation.
- How do I report a miscategorised domain?
- Once the domain lookup tool is live, reports can be filed directly from the tool. Until then, choose "Report a miscategorised domain" on the contact form.
- Who may use the badge?
- Resellers and partners selling Sysnet products may use the "powered by SignGuard" badge in their materials, following the rules on the badge page.
